LGU-KORONADAL CELEBRATES CHINESE NEW YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of the City of Koronadal celebrated Chinese New Year for the first time. Chinese New Year dragon Lauriat, a fellowship dinner, was set for the Chinese-Filipino (Chinoy) community on January 23, 2012. The City of Koronadal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (CKCCIFI) President Danilo Ong headed the group in the said occasion. The traditional dragon dance, aptly performed for the 2012 as the Year of the Dragon, highlighted the celebration.

In his message, City Mayor Peter B. Miguel expressed his indebtedness and appreciation for the big role the Chinese Community played in boosting the city’s economy and for contributing much to its business vibrancy through the years. In support to the Chinese Community, PBM promised to consider them to be a part of the festivities in the next celebration of the city.

CKCCIFI Pres. Ong, on behalf of the Chinese Community, also expressed his gratefulness to the city government, under the leadership of City Mayor Peter B. Miguel, for the recognition given them. Ong said that it was the first time in 60 years of their existence in the city that they were gathered for the occasion. In cognizance of the LGU initiative, the organization donated the amount of PhP50, 000.00 to the city as token and New Year’s gift.

CKCCIFI also actively supported all the city’s activities even in the previous administration.
