LGU-Koronadal grants PhP1.15M financial assistance to 3 City Coops

Three cooperatives in the City of Koronadal were granted a total amount of PhP1.15M financial assistance by the City Government of Koronadal under the Cooperative Loan Assistance Program.

The Far East Hybrid Cooperative received PhP500,00 for the continuous production of Glutinous White Corn. DECS South Cotabato Multi-Purpose Cooperative also received PhP.500,000 as additional capitalization and Topland Farmers Cooperative intends to loan out to their members the PhP150,000 loan grant. This is the fourth batch of cooperative beneficiaries from the time the program was launched by former City Mayor Fernando Q. Miguel.

In his message, Mayor Miguel challenged all cooperatives to propagate and improve the livelihood activities of their own cooperatives. He said that the City Government intends to expand the number of legitimate and active cooperatives in the city.”Our programs for cooperatives are very strong and it would not be that productive without our financial support. Being a cooperative is a challenging venture and it wouldn’t be sustainable if there is no sense of cooperativism,” he further emphasized.

Meanwhile, the cooperative member beneficiaries expressed their utmost gratitude to the City Government for the financial assistance granted with the assurance to make proper use of the fund for the intended livelihood activities.

The said financial assistance is a soft loan bearing an interest rate of 4% per annum payable in two years.
