As the city embarks on new approaches to responsible pet ownership, all dog owners in the city can now reward their pooch with special doggie treat for the Love Month.
On February 11, 8-11am, at the Rizal Park, the office of the City Veterinarian will launch the 1st Dog-A-Palooza with the theme “Dog Palaging Mahalin”.
The half-day affair will bring significant contribution to those who appreciate the value of caring for animals. Services to be offered includes, free photo taking at the photo booth and print-out for the 1st 150 dog owners and their pets. Two private veterinary clinics will offer free consultation and provide IEC on the emerging disease of dogs and how to handle it. Games and surprises await to all who will participate.
In an interview, City Veterinarian Dr. Charlemagne S. Calo said that the city is intensifying its effort to campaign for “IDO” or Huwag maging “Iresponsableng Dog Owners.” Further, the LGU target for the implementation of R.A.9482 of the Local Revenue Code of 2009.The said law mandates all Local Government Unit to legitimize dog ownership through the conduct of dog registration. It is expected that with the implementation of the said law, pressing concerns on dog bites and rabies incidents will be reduced.
