It was fiesta time once again when more
than 3,000 children from 99 day care centers in the City of Koronadal gathered for
the Children’s Congress on October 19, 2012 at the Rizal Park with the theme, “Bright Child ay Siguraduhin, Responsabling
Pamamahayag Palaganapin.”
City Mayor Peter Miguel, in his speech
during the opening program, stressed on the importance of love and care of the
parents to their children. He also said that it is important to express
verbally the three words “I Love You.” and that parents should appreciate the
accomplishments of their children regardless of how insignificant they are.
A float parade around the city started
the celebration with little children riding as representatives of their
respective schools. After which Interpretative song competition, a song solo
contest draw and tell a story contest were conducted with the following

The Children’s Congress is held annually as spearheaded by the City
Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) whose primary purpose is to
promote the rights and well- being of children.
